Mr. Douglas said that the demand of the world market for wood products for households such as doors and furniture products is increasing due to global population growth boosted demand for housing .

By 2025 , the estimated global population will reach 8 billion people . In most populous country is now China , India , Indonesia , Brazil and the United States will remain the most populous country in the top 2025.

Mr. Douglas called on the Malaysian timber manufacturers pay attention to this potential and continue to take measures to strengthen the market in the two most populous countries .

Currently Malaysia is timber exporter and the world's largest lumber . Malaysia's timber industry plays a very important role in the socio-economic development of the country and is an important source of foreign exchange earnings of the country , besides generating a large number of jobs .

Malaysia pays special attention to the development of the timber industry by adopting the provisions of the law on environmental protection and conservation of forests .

Per the Executive Director Malaysian Timber Council Yeo Heng Hau , exports of Malaysian timber 2012 RM 20.2 billion , more than double with RM 10.5 billion in 1992
